These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a contract between you and Tayle ("Tayle," "we," "us"). They cover your use of the Tayle application, the marketing site at tayle.co, and any related service, including Tayle Concierge.
By creating an account, recording a story, contributing as a collaborator, or buying a subscription or Concierge engagement, you agree to these Terms. If you're using Tayle on behalf of an organization or another person, you confirm you have authority to bind them.
Your privacy is governed by our Privacy Policy, which is part of these Terms.
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. You must be 18 (or the age of majority where you live) to purchase a paid plan or Tayle Concierge. If you're under 18, a parent or guardian must agree to these Terms on your behalf.
You agree to provide accurate account information and to keep it up to date. You are responsible for activity that happens under your account — keep your password safe and notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access.
Tayle is a voice-first AI memoir application. It conducts interviews, transcribes recordings, organizes stories and media, and turns them into a shareable memoir. Tayle Concierge is a separately-priced service where our team conducts interviews and produces a hardcover book on your behalf.
The service is offered as-is and evolves over time. We may add, change, or remove features. If we make a material change that reduces a core function of a paid plan, we'll give you notice and a reasonable path to a refund of any unused, prepaid balance.
You own your content. Recordings, transcripts, photos, videos, documents, written stories, and anything else you put into Tayle ("Your Content") remain yours.
You grant Tayle a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, transmit, transcribe, transcode, process with AI, display, and otherwise use Your Content solely to operate and improve the service for you and the collaborators you authorize. This license ends when you delete the content or close your account, except where we need to retain it briefly for backups, legal requirements, or to defend against legal claims.
We will not use Your Content to train any general-purpose or third-party AI model, and our subprocessors are contractually prohibited from doing so. See the Privacy Policy for details.
You are responsible for Your Content. You represent that you have the right to record, upload, and share it, including the consent of anyone whose voice, image, or personal information appears in it. Recording laws vary by jurisdiction — in some places all parties to a conversation must consent. Make sure you have the consent you need before you hit record.
Tayle is built to be used with family and friends. When you invite a collaborator, you decide what they can see, hear, and contribute. When they accept, they're bound by these Terms for their activity on Tayle.
The person who created a Tayle is its owner and controls access, edits, and deletion. If you contribute to someone else's Tayle as a collaborator, the owner of that Tayle controls what happens to your contributions, including whether they remain after you stop participating. Make sure you understand that before adding sensitive content to a Tayle you don't own.
You agree not to:
We may remove content or suspend accounts that violate this section. For severe or repeated violations, we may terminate the account without refund.
Current plans, prices, and included limits (Tayles, AI interview minutes, storage) are shown on our pricing page. We may change plan terms going forward; existing subscribers keep their current terms until the next renewal, and we'll give notice of changes that affect renewal.
Paid plans renew automatically — monthly plans monthly, annual plans yearly — until you cancel. By subscribing, you authorize Stripe to charge your payment method on a recurring basis. You can cancel anytime in your account settings.
You can cancel a subscription at any time. Cancellation stops future renewals — it does not refund the current billing period. After cancellation, you keep access until the end of the period you've paid for.
We don't generally offer refunds for partial periods or unused minutes. We will consider refund requests for genuine billing errors or extended service outages — email support@tayle.co.
Prices shown on the site may not include taxes. You are responsible for any applicable sales tax, VAT, GST, or similar charges.
The Free plan is offered for product evaluation. We may change its limits with notice, and may pause or remove inactive Free accounts after extended periods of non-use.
Tayle Concierge is a separately-priced service starting at $2,500. A standard engagement includes five one-hour interview sessions, integration of family-submitted questions and photos, collaborative editing, hosting of all resulting stories in your Tayle account, and a hardcover book delivered when complete.
Engagement-specific details — scope, timeline, deliverables, and any additional fees — are agreed in writing with our Concierge team before work begins. If we can't agree on scope, no charge applies.
Once interview sessions have begun, Concierge fees are non-refundable except as required by law or as agreed in writing. We aim to complete a standard engagement within 90 days of the first interview, subject to your availability and review cycles. Printing and shipping timelines depend on third-party providers and are estimates, not guarantees.
Tayle uses AI to transcribe recordings, summarize stories, and assemble memoir output. AI is imperfect. Transcripts may contain errors, summaries may miss nuance, and generated text may occasionally invent details. You are responsible for reviewing AI-generated output before relying on it or sharing it as fact. We provide editing tools so you can correct anything that isn't right.
To the extent AI-generated transcripts and summaries derived from Your Content are considered "output," you own that output as part of Your Content, subject to these Terms.
The Tayle software, brand, marketing site, design, and all underlying technology are owned by Tayle and protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to use the service. They don't grant you any other rights in our software or brand.
Feedback you send us is appreciated and may be used to improve the service without obligation or compensation to you.
Tayle relies on third-party services — Stripe for payments, Supabase for storage, Vapi for voice AI, and others listed in our Privacy Policy. Your use of those services through Tayle is governed by their terms in addition to ours. We aren't responsible for outages, errors, or actions of third-party services beyond reasonable diligence in our vendor selection.
You can stop using Tayle and delete your account at any time. We can suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, if required by law, or if continued provision of the service to you creates a safety, security, or legal risk.
On termination, your right to use Tayle ends. We will delete Your Content according to the retention windows in our Privacy Policy, except where we are required to keep it. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (ownership, disclaimers, liability limits, dispute resolution) will survive.
The service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Tayle disclaims all warranties, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, and uninterrupted availability. We don't warrant that the service will always be secure, error-free, or available, that AI output will be accurate, or that recordings will always transcribe correctly.
Some jurisdictions don't allow the exclusion of certain warranties — in those jurisdictions, the exclusions above apply only to the extent permitted.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Tayle will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, lost stories, or loss of goodwill, even if we've been advised of the possibility.
Tayle's total aggregate liability arising out of or related to these Terms or the service will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid Tayle in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) USD $100.
These limits apply to the maximum extent permitted by law. Some jurisdictions don't allow these limitations — in those, our liability is limited to the smallest amount permitted by law.
Back up what matters. Tayle is built to preserve stories, and we work hard to keep them safe. We still recommend you periodically export anything irreplaceable.
You agree to indemnify and hold Tayle, its officers, employees, and contractors harmless from any claim, loss, or expense (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from (a) Your Content, (b) your use of the service in violation of these Terms or applicable law, or (c) your violation of someone else's rights, including recording or privacy rights.
These Terms are governed by the laws of [STATE], United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
Before filing a formal claim, you agree to contact us at legal@tayle.co and give us 30 days to try to resolve the issue informally. Most disputes can be solved this way.
If we can't resolve the dispute informally, you and Tayle agree to resolve it through binding individual arbitration administered by [ARBITRATION PROVIDER] under its then-current rules, seated in [CITY, STATE], rather than in court — except that either party may bring an individual action in small-claims court, and either party may seek injunctive relief in court for intellectual property or security matters. You and Tayle each waive the right to a jury trial and to participate in a class action.
If you're a consumer resident in the EU, UK, or another jurisdiction whose mandatory consumer-protection laws override this section, those laws apply to the extent required.
We may update these Terms as Tayle evolves. For material changes, we'll notify you by email or through the app at least 14 days before they take effect. Your continued use of the service after that date means you accept the updated Terms. If you don't agree, stop using the service before the changes take effect; you'll be eligible for a prorated refund of any prepaid balance that you can't reasonably use under the new Terms.
